Traffic safety
Be safe this Stampede and all summer long by knowing the rules about drinking, drugs and driving. Taking substances like alcohol and cannabis can affect your ability to drive. Impaired driving doesn't just mean drinking—it also includes cannabis and other mind-altering drugs, being too tired, or taking certain medications (prescribed and over the counter) that can make it dangerous to drive.
Most casualty collisions involving alcohol happen late at night on weekends, between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m. During Stampede, it can become even riskier: on average, 15 pedestrians are hit by vehicles, with 22 per cent of those collisions happening downtown. Let's share the road safely and look out for each other. Learn more Trafic safety tips.
Parking
If you are driving during Stampede this year, it is important to know where and how to park safely and responsibly, as every parking decision you make determines the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and motorists. Please park safely and responsibly throughout Stampede to avoid fines and tows.
There are many Calgary Parking options close to the Stampede grounds where you can park your vehicles safely, conveniently and affordably. This includes the vibrant Lot 62 (Platform Innovation Centre Parkade) at 399 - 9 Avenue S.E., located only blocks away. It will remain open until 11 p.m. for vehicles and until midnight for those who wish to watch the fireworks from the rooftop.
Summer promo rates, including the $12 and $15 parking deals, are also available at select facilities across downtown Calgary. Download the MyParking app or use the Virtual Pay Machine to receive these parking discounts.
At no extra charge, complimentary extended parking is also available at select facilities on Saturday and Sunday mornings until 10 a.m.
