Community Profiles

Calgary’s community profiles provide information about the population living in private households in each community from the 2016 Census of Canada. The Census of Canada is conducted every five years, with the next census taking place in 2021.

Because of the significant changes to the census methodology, these community profiles should not be compared to community profiles from 2011.

These profiles were creating using data accessed through the Community Data Program.

If you have questions about the Community Profiles, please email socialresearch@calgary.ca.

Information about Calgary and Calgary's wards is also available.

The data in these profiles only includes the population living in private households (residents of collective dwellings such as health care facilities, shelters, and school residences are excluded). The City of Calgary also conducts a civic census, which provides an annual official count of dwellings and people, and includes the population living in collective dwellings.

In addition to the community profiles, population projections are provided for each community. The projected growth for communities from 2014 to 2042 was produced by Geodemographics and is from the 2014 Scenario Series (long-range forecasts).
