Chinook Communities Local Area Plan

Chinook Communities Local Area Plan

The Chinook Communities Local Area Plan (LAP) is a Council-approved planning document that sets a long-term vision for growth and change across ten established Calgary neighbourhoods. Approved on April 9, 2025, the plan provides a policy framework to guide land use, development, and investment in the Chinook area for decades to come.

Neighbourhoods included in the Chinook LAP are: Bel-Aire, Britannia, Elboya, Mayfair, Meadowlark Park, Parkhill, Windsor Park, Manchester, South Manchester Industrial, and Eastern Glenmore Park.

About the plan

The Chinook LAP was shaped through a collaborative process involving residents, businesses, and City staff. It balances technical analysis with community input to ensure future growth supports vibrant, inclusive, and well-connected neighbourhoods.

The plan outlines a shared vision for the Chinook area and introduces policies that guide how redevelopment, mobility improvements, and infrastructure investments will unfold over time. It also supports Calgary’s broader goals for sustainability, housing choice, and complete communities.
