Join TIPP (Tax Instalment Payment Plan)
TIPP is the most popular way to pay property tax in Calgary. Here’s why:
- You pay the same amount as your tax bill, but in smaller, easier to manage monthly payments.
- Automatic monthly payments come out on the first day of each month, helping you avoid late payment penalties.
- No extra fees and no need to re-enroll each year. TIPP continues until you cancel.
- If you join before January 1: Your payments are spread over 12 months.
- If you join after January 1: Your payments are spread over the remaining months of the year. The following year, they will be spread over 12 months.

You can join TIPP at any time if:
The property tax is not included in your mortgage payments.
All past due property tax is paid.
You want to pay the property tax, even if you are not the owner.
The property has received a tax bill.
How to join TIPP
Sign up today using our simple online form. To get started, you’ll need:
- A myID account.
- The 9-digit roll number for each property you wish to enroll (up to ten properties per form).
- A Canadian dollar chequing account for payment withdrawals.
- Banking information: institution number, transit number, and bank account number.
- The bank account holder (or signing officer, if enrolling a company) available to sign the agreement.

Own multiple properties or a condo?
Join TIPP for each property using its unique roll number. For condos, each separate titled space (e.g., living space, parking, storage) has its own roll number and is treated as an individual property.
What to expect after submitting your online TIPP agreement
- Your agreement will be processed automatically.
- You'll be enrolled immediately upon submission.
- You'll receive email confirmation.
- Your first payment will be withdrawn on the specified start date.
Important: Double-check your banking details before submitting to avoid penalties or cancellation.
Late-payment penalties
If you joined TIPP shortly before the property tax due date, a penalty might appear. This will be removed once your agreement and first payment are processed.
If you joined TIPP after the due date, the penalty is valid and won’t be removed.
Common questions about joining TIPP
Can I choose when my payment is withdrawn?
No. Payments are always withdrawn on the first of each month.
Where can I find my roll number?
Every property has its own unique 9-digit roll number. Find the roll number on your assessment notice, property tax bill, or statement of account.
You can also find it online:
- Visit myTax.
- Under Public Access, click Search, and accept the Terms of Use.
- Search by address to find the property.
- Select the checkbox beside the property address.
- Click Export Selected Property Report.
- Oen the downloaded report to find the roll number at the top
What happens if my agreement couldn’t be processed online?
If your agreement can’t be processed online, you’ll be sent a customized agreement within 7 business days. Return it by the date noted to enroll in TIPP: Return a completed TIPP agreement
What if my roll number is “invalid” on the online form?
Ensure you used the correct roll number. If you're unsure, call 311 (403-268-2489 outside Calgary) to verify it. You'll need to provide your property address.
Can I set up TIPP for my clients?
The online TIPP agreement is only for bank account holders. If you’re a third party, you can request a TIPP agreement by:
- Calling 311 (or 403-268-2489 if outside Calgary).
- Visiting the Tax Advisory Services counter at City Hall
Are there other ways to enroll in TIPP?
Yes, if you prefer not to use the online agreement form, you can enroll in TIPP through these methods:
- Submit a TIPP information service request to receive an agreement via mail or email. We will contact you within 7 business days.
- Call 311 to request a TIPP agreement via mail or email. We will contact you within 7 business days.
