Explore Southland Leisure Centre

Experience the many different aspects of Southland Leisure Centre while taking part in our activity-based program. Children will love taking advantage of our indoor play structure, playing games in the gymnasium, exploring their creativity through art, and occasionally spending time in the kiddie pool or ice skating in our arenas.

Getting your child ready for success

Children will prepare for kindergarten through a variety of meaningful play opportunities. Our program encourages creativity, cooperation and fun, helping them build self-confidence, identity and independence.

A day in our program at Southland Leisure Centre

A typical day in our preschool program includes free play, circle time, art/science time, physical activity time and snack time.

Free play time

Our tabletop play centres and other materials help your child explore their imagination, learn cooperation, and practice shapes, sizes, colors, numbers, language and motor skills.

Art/science time

This tactile learning experience — whether forming a blob of dough or feeling paint on their fingers — allows children to expand their creativity, improve their hand-eye coordination and exercise their fine motor skills.

Physical activity time

Preschoolers will develop the fundamental movement skills that all children need, such as running, hopping, throwing, catching and jumping. Spending time in our indoor play structure or gymnasium increases their physical literacy and helps lead them to lifelong participation in physical activity.

Snack time

Our nut-free snack time promotes healthy eating by encouraging parents to send a small nutritious food item and water bottle with their preschooler each day.

Children must meet the minimum age requirements for each program and must be toilet trained in order to enroll. These are not parented programs.
