School programs - Recreation

Recreation offers a wide variety of school programs for students from preschool to grade 12. Youth can enjoy activities like swimming and skating lessons, first aid certification, sailing lessons, golf and soccer lessons, exercise and fitness classes and arts programs.

    Our certified swim instructors teach Swim for Life Swimmer levels.

  • Skating

    Our instructors teach skating through games and fun activities.

  • Preschool arts

    Help kids tap into their creativity with one of our exciting and innovative arts programs.

  • Arts: Grades K - 12

    Help kids and youth tap into their creativity with one of our exciting arts programs for students of all ages. We provide the art studios and a variety of fun activities and art lessons.

  • Artist residency

    Bring arts programs to your school! We provide artist residency programs for students of all ages.​

  • Fitness & exercise

    We provide a number of fitness programs for junior high and high school students

  • Golf

    Schools can reserve driving stalls or book tee times for groups during our open season.

  • Sailing

    ​​​The Glenmore Sailing School offers sailing lessons for junior and senior high school students on the Glenmore Reservoir.​

Calgary AfterSchool

Calgary AfterSchool is a framework of after school program opportunities for children and youth ages 6 to 16, Monday to Friday, between the hours of 3 and 6 p.m.

About our school programs

Our qualified recreation program specialists can analyze the fitness needs of students, developing a class or classes based on the cost, education and fitness levels of the participants.

The City provides 12 Aquatic & Fitness Centres, two Leisure Centres, six Golf Courses, 11 Athletic Parks, two Arts Centres, 19 Arenas and the Calgary Soccer Centre in Calgary that your class can visit. We can also send a qualified fitness instructor or health professional right to your school.​​​​​​​
