About the policy
As an employer, The City has a duty to protect the health and safety of employees as far as reasonably practicable. Smoking, vaping, and spitting smokeless tobacco products can have a negative effect not only on the user of the products, but also on those around them who are exposed secondhand.
The Use of Tobacco, Vaping, and Cannabis Products Policy outlines:
Our role as an employer to provide a healthy and safe work environment where chemical and biological exposures are minimized
Responsibilities and requirements of employees, volunteers and contractors regarding the use of tobacco, vaping or cannabis products while in a City workplace and/or while representing The City
Exceptions for indoor Indigenous ceremonies (such as smudging) and notification guidelines
