Occupational Health and Safety Policy
About the policy
The City’s OHS Policy communicates senior management’s commitment to improving health and safety performance, and helping to promote and advance the physical, psychological and social well-being of employees at our work sites. This policy and The City’s workplace health and safety program are requirements of health and safety legislation (The Occupational Health and Safety Act).
Safety is a shared responsibility that requires active leadership and participation from all employees. All City staff at varying levels throughout our organization have health and safety roles and responsibilities.
It is important that all employees are aware of the OHS Policy to ensure health and safety is included our day-to-day activities, in safety meetings, and during orientations and training.
How to comply with the OHS Policy
- Protect the health and safety of yourself, your co-workers, contractors, and volunteers.
- Understand and meet your health and safety roles, responsibilities, and requirements.
- Comply with occupational health and safety legislative requirements and the City’s health and safety standards and guidelines.
