If an item has a hazard symbol (poisonous, flammable etc.), then it must be taken to a designated Household Hazardous Waste drop-off, even if it’s empty.

- Paint, paint cans and spray paint

- Non-rechargeable, alkaline or single-use batteries
- AA and AAA batteries
- 6 volt (6V), 9-volt (9V), C and D batteries
- Button batteries
- Rechargeable batteries like lithium-ion batteries
- Battery-containing devices like electric toothbrushes, smartphones and e-cigarettes
No automobile waste
- Car batteries
- Metal car parts
- Tires
- Automotive chemicals like used motor oil, transmission fluid, lubricants and their containers
- Oil filters
No oversized items that can't fit inside the black cart

- Mattresses
- Large furniture (beds, dressers, shelving, tables, chairs, patio umbrellas)
- Freon containing appliances like refrigerators, freezers and water coolers
- Fence posts and oversized pieces of wood
No donatables, recyclables or food and yard waste
Items that can be donated, reused or have a different recycling program should not go in the black cart.
