Street light resources for developers and consultants
There are a number of policy and specification manuals that are important to street light developers, consultants and contractors who perform work for The City of Calgary.
Technical and design specifications
Standard specifications for street lighting construction
- Design Symbols for Street Light Luminaires and Poles (June 2021)
- Street lighting construction 2006 (Current)
- Electrical Permit Process
- Street lighting material catalogue 2016
- Design guidelines for street lighting 2016 (Current)
- 2021 Street Light Design Bulletin
The City of Calgary is currently in the process of updating our street light design standards which is a lengthy process. In the absence of having an updated standard to share at this time, the 2021 Street Light Design Bulletin can be used as a supplemental reference to the existing Design guidelines for street lighting 2016.
- Street Light Design Incremental Cost Data Sheet (DDS)
This spreadsheet is used to calculate incremental maintenance costs when selecting decorative street lighting in new subdivision developments. When submitting designs for decorative street lights to The City of Calgary, this spreadsheet must be included with the submission.
- Luminaire replacement chart
The City of Calgary is transitioning to the current GE Luminaires and will be replaced by Lumec by Signify with the RoadFocus Series, this replacement chart will apply to current streetlighting designs that are in IFC or construction stage to help with the transition to new luminaires. Once the current inventory for the GE luminaire depletes no new orders will be made.
