The City of Calgary is supporting citizens and businesses in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. For the 2021 tax year, Council approved two municipal property tax relief measures to provide flexibility for property owners facing financial hardship:

  1. The Tax Instalment Payment Plan (TIPP) suspended its 2% filing fee and there is no initial payment required for taxpayers who join TIPP between January 1, 2021 and January 1,  2022.

  2. Council has amended the July 1 7% penalty to 3.5% and cancelled the Oct 1 7% penalty.  In 2022, the 1% monthly arrears penalty on unpaid tax, has been cancelled for January, February, and March.  It will resume on April 1, 2022.
