Property tax
The City of Calgary is supporting citizens and businesses in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. For the 2020 tax year, Council approved two municipal property tax relief measures to provide flexibility for property owners facing financial hardship:
- The tax payment deadline was extended from June 30 to September 30 without late payment penalties. The tax due date printed on the bill was June 30. However, property owners had until September 30 to pay their 2020 tax bill without penalty as the annual July 1 7% penalty was cancelled and the October 1 7% penalty was amended by Council to 3.5%.
- The Tax Instalment Payment Plan (TIPP) suspended its 2% filing fee for taxpayers who joined TIPP between January 1, 2020 and January 1, 2021.
